Man,18, Docked For Disguising As Female Prostitute

An 18-year-old man, Tajudeen Olamide, who disguised as a female prostitute, was on Friday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

Olamide, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of behaving in an indecent manner in public and persistently importuning or soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Olumide Awoleke, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 8 at Kajola Area via Ifo at about 4:15 a.m. in Ota.

Awoleke said that the accused, who disguised as a woman and followed men to hotels, and after collecting money from them; would lie that he was having menstrual period.

He also said that the accused usually put cotton wood on his chest to make him look like a woman.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Section 249 (A) (1) of the Criminal Code, Revised Law of Ogun State, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, granted the bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Abimbola said that the sureties should be working and residing within the court’s jurisdiction and also produce tax clearance for the past one year.

She said that the sureties must in addition, produce evidence of where they were working and residing.

Abimbola said that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means and submit their passport photographs to the court.

The case was adjourned till Dec.16 for hearing.
