Oscar Pistorius' long awaited sentence was yesterday concluded.

The South African athlete was sentenced at Pretoria’s High Court after seven long months of trials for the killing of his girlfriend Ms Steenkamp, after being cleared of murder, through expert analysis and psychological assessment, was convicted of culpable homicide.

In her sentencing, Judge Masipa ruled "a non-custodial sentence would send the wrong sentence to the community, but a long sentence would not be appropriate because it would appear to lack mercy".

Ms Steenkamp's family said that justice was well served. Oscar's family also added "Masipa's judgment is without impurities.
